Some sixty-three shows back, when the Sacramento Jazz Coop was still in its infancy, the Jim Martinez Quartet performed for us playing the music of Duke Ellington and Oscar Peterson.
Having amassed a long list of musical accomplishments, encompassing all styles, he continues to enthrall fans with an impressive list of performances with some of the greatest who’s who in jazz.
Following the demise of the long-standing Sacramento Jazz Festival, Jim has stepped to the plate producing the Roseville Jazz Fest. After a successful first year, 2019 will once again present the festival over the Memorial Day weekend, May 25-26, 2019.
With thirteen CDs to his credit, the Jim Martinez Quartet, featuring Jim Martinez on piano, Shelley Denny on bass, Tim Metz on drums, and Lucas Bere on sax, returns to the Sacramento Jazz Coop performing the music of Vince Guaraldi, with “Good Grief, It’s Still Jim Martines, Again,” a name that parodies his Guaraldi tribute CD. “Good Grief It’s Still Jim Martinez.” Join us for our first show of 2019 at our new digs, the Dante Club.
